Revealed on August 1 “Moto X” marks Motorola’s first flagship device since Google bought the company. The new Smartphone from Motorola, the Google Company; serves up a serious competition to the leading Samsung Galaxy S models as well as the high end iPhones with its unique software tweaks and customization features.
Marked as the most customizable Smartphone, Moto X is the newest attempt of Motorola to regain its lost prominence in the smartphone market. Instead of bringing the latest and high end specs, Google has emphasized more on the customization and the software tweaks. Users can personalize the Smartphone by selecting everything of their choice, right from the front face, the color of the buttons and ring around the camera, to a personalized message on the back cover of your choice.
Company will be offering two different case-covers for the phone – a plain case with black frost and a Pro Shell case with seven color options like green, gray, orange, pink, blue, white and black. With the iterations of 32GB and 16GB this Smartphone will hit the market sometime in late August or early September.
Moto X will arrive with five leading U.S carriers: Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and U.S Cellular. It is different from other Android Smartphones and it offers some unique ‘touchless’ features like turning on camera with motion and pick up on voice command.
Colors and Design
Company will offer a choice of 18 different colors for the Moto X phone’s back cover through their website which includes a wooden design back cover too. Users can also select the front of the phone in black of white. There are seven options of metallic colors to select for the buttons and the ring around its camera. Moto X phone’s curved shell makes it rest on the palm comfortably.
Screen and Display
Moto X brings a good hardware including a slim body with a larger 4.7 inch screen which is finely comparable to that of its rival Android Smartphones. It employs a 720p AMOLED display.
Camera and Specs
The Smartphone touts a gesture based 10-megapixel Clear Pixel rear camera capable of clicking clear pictures in low-light. You can turn the camera ON just by shaking your Smartphone. The auto-focus feature and light exposure are handled automatically in the Moto X phone. The Quick Capture feature allows a shot-to-shot capturing speed. 2 MP front face camera also has an updated interface. Users can also click the still pictures while recording a video with their Moto X.
Running Android 4.2.2, the flagship Smartphone from Motorola is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core main processor with 2 GB of RAM.
A new feature of Voice Control “Google Now” is included in Moto X which is always ON to listen a specific voice command which brings the Smartphone onto a serious competition with iPhone’s Siri. Keeping the Voice Control gesture always ON may possibly affect the battery life of the phone, although, the company says that it is a natural language processor and uses the minimum battery power. It is not yet clear that the always ON voice control feature will be able to unlock the phone or not.
“It is silent until you ask it to do something” as said by a Motorola Guy Kawasaki.
Many of its components are made worldwide but, Moto X will be the first Smartphone to be assembled in the U.S and the final device production will be done in the U.S.
The Moto X phone definitely looks worth it and the best option when it comes to android phones. Will this phone give some competition to Apples iPhone? What do you think?
