Is your site up all the time?

Recently, I have been changing servers like mad. Lot of hosts promise a 99.9% server uptime but they really don’t do so. It is very difficult for anyone to know whether the site is up or not. Most of the times its a local ISP issue where the DNS fails to resolve the hostname. Lot of people have complained about my websites being down. On contacting the hosting providers, I get an answer saying the server is up and the next time I check it, its really up.

So how do we actually prove our point to the hosting providers and show them that the server was really down. No I am not talking about local ISP issues. Once you know that your server was down for sure, you need to supply some proof to your provider and ask for some discount and/or extra services free of cost. Some hosting providers will do it and many will ask for a proof. Once you have a proof, they are dead. They will have to compensate on the downtime.

While doing research on how do I prove my host on server downtime, I came across a service provided by ObservePoint.com which monitors my server every second. This service notifies me via email or phone whenever my server goes down. There are lot of additional features like monitoring each and every URL, monitoring redirects, improve ROI, improve performance etc.. They also provide reports and you don’t have to do anything. No need to install a software or script. Regardless of what your server supports they will monitor your website every second!!! The price is $100 per month which I feel is very cheap to ensure uptime of your 10 websites. This means you are paying just $10 per website. The best part is that you can easily get this reimbursed from our host if your website went down for some time. You now have a proof in form of reports provided by ObservePoint.

You may also try their service for free. All you have to do is visit this URL and enter your website address. I feel this is a must for every person who is into serious business of making money online with websites.
