I went to see Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna with a friend on the very first day of its release. I had read about the story of this film on websites and thought such a movie wont work…atleast in India. I am a great fan of Bollywood films and film makers like Karan Johar but a film has to be something which can be easily digested by people….especially Indians when its a Bollywood movie. According to me alot of Indians try to imagine themselves in an actor’s role (we heard about someone jumping from balcony after watching Krrish). Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna deals with ex-marital affair between Rani Mukherjee and Shahrukh Khan. A person imagining himself as Abhishek Bachchan who is Rani’s husband in the film wont like his wife sleeping with another man…LOL!!!! I might sound weird here but trust me this would be too heavy for an Indian to intake. It seems like the film is targetted to people abroad where ex-marital affair is common or dosent matter too much. An english version of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna would be an awesome thing to do. We would be proud if such a story is used for an Hollywood film…wont we ;). As far as the film goes, its going well all over the country and alot better abroad. Wont work for long in India tho. I would still prefer films like Golmaal, Phir Hera Pheri and Chup Chup Ke. We dont want more family and emotional dramas (we already have an Ekta Kapoor at home…dont we?). Multiplexes are costly nowadays and I want to spend my 500 bucks laughing my ass out rather than feeling sorry for someone or watching an aunty in tears in the theatre.
