Microsoft Corp. and Digg Inc. have joined hands. Microsoft will be now manage the advertising on Digg.com. Digg.com, founded in 2004 has become best resource in finding and sharing content on the Internet. Based on a voting system, the best content is displayed on the homepage of digg.com. With youtube being acquired by Google, Microsoft had to take some big steps to capture the advertising industry. Google has the most number of advertisers with its AdWords programs and the highest number of publishers who use the Google AdSense program. Microsoft is still finding difficult to gain more attention of advertisers and publishers all over. Yahoo is also struggling to get reasonable amount of non-US advertisers due to which the Yahoo Publisher program is still in its beta stage and is only for US locals. Not sure if advertising on Digg will have a major boost to the Microsoft’s adcenter program but it definitely is good news for advertisers and publishers.
Having more advertising and publishing ads options helps website owners and advertisers to have multiple options. The competition will grow and the advertisers will benefit a lot in this competition. The pay per click amount will continue to decrease in this competition.
