Microsoft has released their logo for the upcoming latest Windows 8. The logo looks a lot similar to a Finland flag and the original Windows 1.0 logo. Lot of people called the newer Windows logos as a flag but Microsoft always called it as a window. The Windows 8 logo is designed by a global design firm called Pentagram and there is no doubt that Microsoft have spent some good amount of money on this. Frankly speaking, the logo looks pretty boring but there may be some surprises ahead.
If you look at the Windows logos above, you can see that the new Windows 8 logo looks a lot similar to the original Windows 1.0 logo. Does this have a message in itself? The Windows 8 logo is believed to be inspired by the new metro user interface on the operating system. The metro interface will allow users to use applications in full screen without the traditional bottom or side toolbars. Users can still opt to use the traditional desktop if they don’t like the metro user interface.
To me, the Windows 8 logo looks dull but according to Sam Moreau, Microsoft’s Principal Director of User Experience for Windows, the logo changes its color as per your system colors. Sounds interesting? Maybe yes, after we see it live on Windows 8. Maybe, we are just overreacting to the new simple logo just because we are used to the multi-color Windows logos since so many years. I am expecting this to be something similar to Mac computers where the apple logo has a nice backlight to it. I don’t know when did I last use Windows but looking at what is being said about Windows 8, it might be worth trying.
Are you excited about Windows 8? What do you think of the new Windows logo? Some people say it is made using Microsoft Paint while some say it’s too early to judge.
