Sony has been credited for the waterproof and dust-resistant Xperia Z1 smartphone, which company launched last year. The Japanese firm hasn’t restricted waterproof and dust-resistant capabilities to some of its smartphones. They used that feature in its current 10.1-inch flagship Xperia Z2 tablet. New device was one of the most talked about tablets at the MWC event 2014.
Verizon consumers will soon be able to get their hands on the device, as the carrier has just revealed that it will exclusively provide the Xperia Z2 tablet to its customers. For a limited time period, Verizon will make the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet available at $499.99 in preordering along with signing a new 2-year contract. Besides that, anyone who preorders the Xperia Z2 will get a Sony Digital Noise Cancelling Headset at free of cost. The offer is valid while supplies last.
Sony Xperia Z2’s dimensions are 6.77 x 10.47 x 0.25 inches and it weighs around 15.48 oz. It sports a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 Triluminos Display, powered by a snappy 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and has 3 GB of RAM. It comes with 32 GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will carry up to 128 GB microSD cards.
Xperia Z2 includes 8.1-megapixel rear camera and 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera. It’s running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and is IP55 and IP58 dust-resistant and waterproof. Sony has incorporated a 6,000 mAh battery and Stamina Mode to ensure long battery life. The tablet is also compatible with Verizon’s faster 4G XLTE network.
Verizon will start selling the Xperia Z2 tablet online as well retail stores from July 17 and will then raise the price to $599.99. Verizon has also announced that it will start taking preorders for the Xperia Z2 tablet, starting from July 10.
