Tikona Broadband Connection Review – Stay Far Away From Tikona

Few days back I had posted my experience with Tata Indicom broadband connection. The issue went on for a long time but all is well right now. I am using Tata’s broadband connection and I am really happy with the way they have sorted things out. Connection speed and uptime was never a problem with Tata Indicom. They have done a very good job by retaining a customer (which is me) and I would always recommend Tata Indicom broadband connection to anyone and everyone now.

While the Tata Indicom episode was going on, I made a huge mistake of installing Tikona broadband connection in my house. I asked them to remove the connection 5 days after they installed it and still they are sending me Rs 4000 bills till date. Now how cool is that? I did some research on the Internet and could not find a single person who is happy with Tikona Boardband Internet connection. Lot of people have fallen in their trap due to the wireless technology that is being used by Tikona which allows you to use their connection anywhere in your house. I stay in a duplex flat where my D-Link wireless modem is not able to provide connectivity on both the floors and hence I thought Tikona was a better choice because I could get their signal everywhere in the house.

Tikona has taken Rs 500 installation charges from lot of people and deny to return that. First, the sales people will come to your house to give you a nice demo. The speed during the demo is too bad and they will assure that the speed when the actual connection is installed will be much better. The sales people will also tell you that the Rs 500 cheque will be deposited only once you are satisfied with the connection and give them a confirmation.

Everything looks nice till you get the connection installed. With the kind of Internet services provided in India, no one can judge a connection within a day. It will take around 2 – 3 days time for anyone to make a decision. Tikona will NOT allow you to do that. Your cheque gets deposited without informing you and all you can do is yell, scream, make calls, break your computer or jump off the window for having such a bad connection. No one will help you with your Tikona Internet connection.

What’s the last option left in this case? You ask them to disconnect the connection. So you think you have got rid of some bad service yet? Hold on. They won’t stop your connection just because you told them to do so. Their person will come to your house (at his own leisure) and that will be the last day of your connection. Isn’t that great???? So let’s say you called them to cancel the connection on 5th of October 2010 and their person comes to your house to collect the modem on 20th, then your connection is active till the 20th. Surprised? Don’t be, there’s more to come..

Alright! now the connection is gone and you are happy with someone like Tata, MTNL or Airtel but wait!!! Tikona is asking you to pay your bill!!! Whatever 3-5 days connection you have used at the speed of a dialup connection will be CHARGED. You have to pay that bill no matter what. Were you waiting for your Rs 500 refund? Forget the refund and get ready to answer calls from Tikona’s recovery department who will rudely ask you to PAY your bills no matter what you try to explain them.

My story is a lot similar. I cancelled my connection 5 days after I got it. The recovery department person who visited my house was an elderly man and he confirmed that every customer has the same story. No one till date has a happy story with Tikona and choosing them is a HUGE mistake. I don’t care about  my Rs 500 installation charge that these guys took from me but I really don’t expect them to charge me for a few days a connection that was not only dreadfully slow but also intermittent.

Sorry Tikona, you get a BIG ZERO out of 10 from me and many others. For anyone who was looking for a Tikona Broadband connection review, I think you have got your answer. The company is fraud and I would recommend everyone to stay very far away from Tikona. Do you have a bad experience with Tikona as well? Please post in comments and let others know.

  1. Mine is also the same story, But I must say I have won it..
    At the time I had choose to disconnect Tikona broadband, I had a pending bill of nearly Rs 1500/- and the very month I had relocated to a new address, LOL…their recovery agent kept on calling me and I did not respond to their calls.

Even I faced exactly similar issue with Tikona .They have entered wrong phone number purposely and I did not recieve the password to activate the connection also .I have placed a disconnection request ,God knows if Ill get the money back.To place the request itself I had to call the Customer Care several times with each time the call getting disconnected .

  4. One of the leading broadband offering companies, Tikona has indeed proved its worth as being a reliable partner when it comes to broadband connections. I have had the internet connection for quite some time and I am pretty satisfied.
    I use Tikona wi fi service, and it has exceeded my expectations in the last few months. Quite strangely some of the best names in the industry could not delight me as much as this connection did. Looking forward to up gradation though!

  5. Out of 30 days in a month tikona is off for atleast 15days..No service..Access point Down..Service Engineer never visits.Says that access point problem is company issue..No guarantee ..They Call 100times for Bill Paymemt..But not even a single time for Service

  6. I can’t stop laughing at the response to Alok Sharma’s comment, turns out he’s an employee of Tikona, out here doing some disaster management on Social Media. Well I was just about to commit the mistake of applying for the Tikona service but thought would check some online reviews and lucky me, seems I’ve been saved from a pathetic service. In fact I have already applied for a demo (luckily without paying) but from what I see across forums, its ‘goodbye demo’.

    Actually a bit shocked at the reviews, there’s not a single positive one except for a certain Alok Sharma’s, who seems to land up on every online forum to do firefighting either posing as a customer or somewhere in between a customer and employee. All I can say is, thanks to these forums, such fraudsters are easily unmasked.

  7. Tikona is working fine for me till now but dont know about the rainy season because i have never get a chance to check it in rainy season but i am using it for 3 months and working fine with me

    I am Sachin Sharma. I reside in Mumbai.
    I am very happy with my service provider (TIKONA) as I am able to connect my Samsung mobile to wireless connection.I got the setting from Tikona’s Toll free number 1-800 209 4276, the technical guy guided me all the step for setting in my mobile ON LINE immdietately. I don’t think any service provider gives you a technical guy on line. The engineer guided me with the steps. Its very simple. Now I can do setting with my other mobile also. Thanks to ‘Tikona for such a wonderful options.

  9. I planned to go for Tikona wireless broadband as i dont have any broadband internet providers in my locality. After reading your review i got alarmed and got confused on to which wireless internet provider is the best in service and speed. Can you pls guide me?

    • i am using tikona for the past 3-4 months and i must say that i have NEVER had any problem with the net connection, previously i was using local internet broadband services which have low ping and leads to slower page loading but with tikona , i never have page not loading problems. also i think their plan rates are reasonable as you dont have to have a landline.

Hey there !Hathway and MTNL both disappointed me bigtime and i don’t really have an option in my area third ISP is Tikona and they are quite new here ..i applied for demo which turned out decent for surfing and but very bad for torrents ..in 2 hrs of demo not even for 5mins i got stable download speed ..on 2mbs i got download speed only 1-5kbps ..bech bech mein 2-3 seconds ke liye it would jump to 250kbps thn agn to 2kbps WTF? whn i asked that Tikona guy first he was like “Sir torrent mein aisa problm ho jata hai” i asked him “Beta pehle yeh bata Torrent kya hai” and he was clueless ..WTF they think of thmslvs ? but anyway m now really confused ..what shud i do ? do u guys wanna buy my computer? i think thats the only option m left with now.
